Have you ever met someone you have something in common and can talk about it for hours? Well, that's pretty much what's happening here Big Al and Donna.

And Ratchet is just in the background, bored of waiting. I could imagine him thinking something like, "I just wanted to pick up that gravimetric warp drive".

Also, here's a little fact! The very first canon character Donna knows, is Al.
Even though Donna already know about Skid McMarx, Big Al is the first canon character she meet in person.
